The Cariboo Stock Dogs, an affiliate group of the BC Stock Dog Association, were thrilled to be able to host the first hybrid AGM that included live and virtual attendance. on Sept 22, 2023. The AGM was nestled between Jen ‘Arrivee’s Fundamentals of Trialing clinic and the Cariboo Stock Dogs Arena Sheep Trial
It’s been a busy year as life returns to normal after COVID. There were 5 arena sheep trials, 2 field trials, and even a cattle arena trial. Multiple clinics appeared across the province as well to help handlers learn to develop their stock dogs.
Discussions regarding the future of the BCSDA and the role it plays in the evolution of rural and urban stock dog activities were lively and well-voiced. Going forward, there are 3 new members on the Board of Directors, including a new President
Due to ever increasing costs, BCSDA membership fees are going up slightly to cover basic overhead costs, such as insurance. Livestock replacement insurance options continue to be investigated and discussed.
The Look Back newsletter has been sorely missed by the BCSDA despite our ever increasing social media presence. Revive it is seriously being looked at and hope of having the first edition ready for email January 2024. Send us your pictures, ideas, and articles
